MIGHTY EIGHTH AIR FORCE MUSEUM:   A major achievement of the Eighth Air Force Historical Society and our Birthplace Chapter, the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum opened its doors on May 14, 1996.  The museum preserves for all Americans the stories of courage, character and patriotism displayed by the men and women of the Eighth Air Force from World War II to the present.  The museum treasures and teaches these values for all generations.  It's central vision is to sustain our cultural heritage, support a lifelong character education, and to be a center of community engagement.  Please visit the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum Website for comprehensive information.

VOLUNTEERS:
The Birthplace Chapter is the main source of volunteer support for the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum.  The photograph above depicts the restoration of the "City of Savannah", a B-17 acquired for the museum from the Smithsonian in Washington.  Members of the chapter restored and maintain this aircraft in its original condition to create one of the most significant exhibits in the museum.  Our volunteers also perform many other vital services for the museum and the Eight Air Force Historical Society.
